Cup to Cup Coffee Roasters

Where one cup leads to another.

Any Thoughts?

Refresh Savannah

I attended Refresh Savannah last night. I wasn’t exactly sure what to expect but Rad Harrell from Talent Soup told me I should check it out, so I did. Refresh Savannah is,

” …a community of web designers, developers, and other new media professionals working together to refresh the creative, technical, and professional aspects of their trades in the Savannah area.” -quote courtesy of www.refreshsavannah.com

We all went around telling everybody what we did. It went like this. “Hi, I’m so and so, I’m a graphic designer”, “Hi, I’m so and so, I’m a product software engineer specializing in some absurdly complicated computer thing”, “Hi, I’m James, I roast coffee”.

The topic of the night was on agile and the death of waterfall or something like that. As the talk started, I thought This is all well above and beyond anything I’ll ever hope to understand. But surprisingly, it wasn’t. The talk continued on to something called SCRUM. SCRUM is basically a system of managing product development. Listening to how it was described, I could begin to see how it could be utilized very easily outside of the software engineering world. Everything from Restaurant management, to business development, to running a church. It was very cool.

All that to say, I had a thoroughly enjoyable time attending. Thanks to Rad for telling me about it. Thanks to Thincspace for hosting, and thanks to Kevin Lawver for starting Refresh here in Savannah!
